On his blog recently, Max Horvath revealed that the next major release of Eclipse PDT, Version 2.0, has been postponed till December 29th. Earlier, Eclipse PDT 2.0 was scheduled for a release on September 15th 2008.
He claims that one of the reasons behind the delay in PDT 2.0 is a huge internal API change, also introduced because of the switch to Eclipse DLTK (Dynamic Languages Toolkit - a tool for vendors, researchers, and end-users who rely on dynamic languages).
New improvements in PDT 2.0 release will include a type hierarchy view, new PHP explorer functionality, code templates, code assist for dynamic variables, PHP Model Infrastructure, Mark Occurrences, Override Method Annotation and Extended Open Type.
