As with all 'first's, we will reserve some space, without expounding too much, to discuss how S&S Media's PHP Magazine (PM) came to be. Since the availability of the German language PHP Magazine, the publisher received numerous queries on the availability of an English version. So the beginning of the year 2003 heralded the release of the bi-monthly PM in print, establishing itself as one of the premier sources of cutting-edge PHP Information. True to its name, it gained international repute with its stunning technical content and extensive inputs from core members of the PHP team. From that point, it took us over a year to realize that we had to bring out an electronic version to satiate the ever-burgeoning amount of information-demand that we receive from avid PHP enthusiasts around the world. The electronic version, PHP Magazine, launched in January 2004, was a monthly magazine containing an assortment of carefully handpicked articles from the vast resource pool of the International PHP Magazine editorial.
The digital magazine helped us gauge that a growing section of our readership was opting to read the electronic version, despite the fact that they had to wait a few months to access the latest articles published in the print magazine. Thus, after two years of testing the online market, we at S&S Media were convinced that there is a healthy interest for an online magazine that is packed with original, well-written articles that help PHP developers and decision makers evaluate and learn to use current PHP-related technologies for their software development projects. Thus in the third quarter of the year 2005, as the PHP Magazine team geared up to celebrate its third anniversary, we decided to go a step further to ensure that our cutting-edge content is available to all, instantly, worldwide.
So, in a nutshell, the PHP Magazine (PM) is now available ONLY in a digital format and is published monthly (12 issues an year). Our latest initiative offers 24/7 access to the magazine - you can view your digital edition anywhere you can access the Web.
We also offer a free, weekly email newsletter, complete with the latest goings on in the community, announcements of new issues, updates about articles under development, and interesting snippets from our online portal.
