HBO Programs Available On ITunes
Keeping alive the rumors of HBO and Apple coming together for making HBO TV shows available on iTunes, Apple has now officially announced that shows from HBO, premium television programming subsidiary of Time Warner, would be available for purchase and download on the iTunes Store.
In addition to expected programs such as The Sopranos, Sex and the City, and The Wire, other programs like Deadwood, Rome and Flight of the Conchords would now be available in iTunes.
The Sex and the City, The Wire and Flight of the Conchords are available on iTunes for USD 1.99 per episode, while The Sopranos, Deadwood and Rome are all priced at USD 2.99 per episode. This is the first time when Apple is selling any television programs for more than its fixed price of USD 1.99.
Henry McGee, president of HBO video in a recently released press note said, “we're excited to make these legendary HBO programs available on the iTunes Store. Whether catching up on Sex and the City in anticipation of its upcoming movie release or reliving a favorite Sopranos episode, we think viewers would love being able to watch these shows on their iPod or iPhone.”
Television shows purchased and downloaded from the iTunes store can be viewed on a Mac or PC, iPod nano with video, iPod touch, iPod classic, fifth generation iPod, iPhone or on a widescreen TV with Apple TV.
The iTunes Store is the world's most popular online TV store with over 150 million episodes sold and features the world's largest catalog with over 800 shows. iTunes 7.6.2 for Mac and Windows includes the iTunes Store and is available as a free download via iTunes.com.
Purchase and download of songs and videos from the iTunes store requires a valid credit card from a financial institution in the country of purchase. Television shows are available in the US, UK, Canada and Germany.
