Global Crossing Receives Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Award, F&S
Frost & Sullivan today announced that Global Crossing, a global IP solutions provider, is the recipient of Frost & Sullivan’s 2007 Best Practices Award for Global Excellence in North American Enterprise and Carrier Internet Protocol (IP) Solutions.
Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as customer service, strategic product development, leadership, and technological innovation. Frost & Sullivan’s analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
“Global Crossing is well positioned to replicate circuit-switched telephony in an IP scenario and has established a global capability unmatched by most other service providers,” said Lynda Starr, senior analyst at Frost & Sullivan. “Its slogan -- ‘One Planet. One Network. Infinite Possibilities’ -- aptly exemplifies why Global Crossing merits Frost & Sullivan’s Global Excellence Award.”
“We are proud that Frost & Sullivan has recognized us for the things that differentiate Global Crossing in the marketplace, namely our unwavering commitment to best practices in developing converged IP services and to our customers,” said John Legere, Global Crossing’s CEO. “This recognition also confirms our customer satisfaction results, which validate that our customers recognize the superior quality of our IPv6-enabled, fully meshed global MPLS network that provides a superior experience to existing customers and to the emerging markets of Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America.”
Global Crossing focuses on multinational enterprises and the service providers who serve them. The company is successfully executing on a disciplined business strategy, having significantly increased revenue and margins for its “invest and grow” segment, which focuses on the global enterprise, collaboration, new channels and carrier data pieces of the business.
Global Crossing owns and operates one of the world’s largest, fully meshed IP MPLS fiber networks, reaching more than 600 cities in 60 countries on six continents. Recent technological innovations include a quadrupling of capacity on its global backbone, deploying more than 30 high-capacity core routers in 17 worldwide locations to create an IP Supercore capable of supporting terabit speeds.
The company also has expanded the number of 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GigE) access routers to more than 30 in 23 cities around the globe, delivering high speed bandwidth. By fully supporting 10GigE from the network’s edge, and with its core scaled appropriately, Global Crossing enables enterprises and service providers to improve their end users’ experiences, especially with bandwidth-intensive, latency-intolerant applications, such as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), IP video and online gaming. Global Crossing will continue to expand its number of 10 GigE-enabled Points of Presence (PoPs) in response to ever-growing market demand.
Global Crossing’s “One Connection, Any Service” converged IP service is a fully managed, end-to-end environment in which all networking applications – such as voice, video, data, and multimedia – are supported and delivered on a single IP-based infrastructure. This provides customers simplicity in network design and administration, as well as in billing and care. Global Crossing’s stellar reputation for customer service is due in large measure to its innovative re-engineering of front- and back-office systems, and its industry-leading uCommand®, a user friendly, Web-based portal that gives customers a single, comprehensive view of Global Crossing network operations. This unique interface allows customers to gain control of their business by giving them access to network performance, order management, invoices and trouble ticket reporting. Global Crossing’s flexibility and transparency on all levels make the company an attractive service provider partner.
Global Crossing services include IP Virtual Private Network (IP VPN), Voice over IP (VoIP), Dedicated Internet Access and IP Transport, Remote VPN Access, Mobile IP Connect and Ready-Access® voice, Ready-Access Web Meeting and IP Video. Global Crossing continually enhances its offerings, and has a rigorous timetable for expanding availability to more locations around the globe.
In 2006, Global Crossing enjoyed unprecedented growth in Internet services, providing more customers with direct high-speed connectivity to the Internet on a global basis. Global Crossing’s overall IP traffic increased 192 percent in 2006. The company transported more than 30 billion minutes of VoIP traffic in 2006 and continues to transport more than 2.5 billion minutes per month.
Global Crossing also offers both professional and managed services for VoIP, security and IP networks, helping enterprises migrate to IP convergence and from traditional telephony to VoIP. This services portfolio enables customers to implement IP convergence, maximize savings on overall telephony costs and reduce total cost of ownership.
