APAC Industrial Boilers Market Poised for Considerable Growth, F&S

Frost & Sullivan's Energy & Power Systems practice in Asia Pacific will host an analyst briefing webinar on the Industrial Boilers Market in APAC, on June 14th 2007, at 11:00 hrs (GMT +08:00hrs) Singapore time.

Since the demand for power consumption is huge in growing economies, industries and commercial establishments try to find alternative options for reliable and continuous power supply. The increasing demand for packaged boilers combined with enhanced awareness of cogeneration has stimulated intense competition in the industrial boilers market. Despite varying capacity of industrial boilers, competitors strive to achieve maximum efficiency and required steam output at minimum costs.

This briefing will analyze the impact of increasing threat to well established companies due to the availability of cheaply priced equipment in the lower range of boilers. It highlights current and potential sales opportunities in Southeast Asia and China, market sizing based on different types of industrial boilers, major end-user analysis and other key trends in the industrial boilers market. This briefing will also benefit Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) Contractors, Independent Packagers, Service Providers, and Local Distributors as it depicts the existing market scenario coupled with estimated forecasts for the industrial boilers market based on its key segmentation. We will also provide an update of related and upcoming research, along with an opportunity for a question and answer session with the analyst.

Suchitra Sriram, Senior Research Analyst with Frost & Sullivan’s Asia Pacific Energy & Power Systems Practice contends that, "Industrial and commercial end-user segments are the major drivers for industrial boilers demand in China and Southeast Asia." Despite increasing fuel costs and operating expenditure, there is a demand for industrial boilers for improving production efficiency, as well as, for continuous power supply needs. She adds, "Captive power generation through cogeneration plants provide the best cost-effective option especially for agro based industries as it helps in disposing their waste by-products."

The growth of this industry is threatened by lack of advanced technology due to the strong presence of local manufacturers, red-tape in the approval of projects, lack of finance among the small and medium scale industries, as well as, market saturation in few industrial end-user segments. According to Suchitra, in this price competitive market, it is challenging for existing companies to secure repeat orders from clients. Price competition results in lesser margins to the industry players. "Hence, boiler efficiency, reliability and value added services also play a major role in gaining a strong foothold in the Chinese and Southeast Asian market," she adds. All the major international companies operate in this region through partnerships with local companies and through agreements with local EPCs.

To sustain competition, Suchitra concludes by saying that it has become critical for companies to retain its position by offering turnkey solutions, services and periodical maintenance, and ensuring supply of spare parts. "This is because the market is highly competitive with players selling basically similar equipment that can be customized based on the application and end-user requirements."
